About Irish Artist Mary O'Donnell
Welcome to MOD Art Studios website and online art gallery.
I hope you enjoy your visit and find that ideal gift or original art piece for your home, family or special occasion.
I was born and raised in the pretty seaside town of Youghal Co. Cork on the Irish South Coast and have had a passion for art and photography since a young age. I studied art in school and attended many classes and workshops with Irish and European tutors over the years.
I adore creating and now work full time as a professional artist, in Cork and Clare.
Read on to see how I got there….
In 2017, I received a wonderful family birthday present, of a week’s art workshop in the Burren College of Art, Ballyvaughan Co. Clare in May. I returned in August, to complete another weeks Abstract painting workshop, with Irish and International artists which I just adored.
I continued developing my individual colourful style at the Abstract workshops in the Burren Art College for a further 5 years and was delighted to hold 2 successful Solo Exhibitions at the College in Summer 2021 and 2022.
This time out in the Burren, immersed in art and nature, gave me the focus and confidence to make the long planned career change in 2019, from the property world, to being a full time professional artist. This was my childhood dream and has been a wonderful life changing move.
I now have the time to develop collections of work in my studios for shows and exhibitions which I attend annually around the country including Art Source in the RDS, Dublin each November and you’ll find me at the Mallow Home and Garden Festival each May.
I was delighted to be the top selected artist to represent the South Cork’s Local Enterprise Office at Ireland’s largest Trade Fair, Showcase Ireland in 2023 in the RDS Dublin and was honored to be invited back again for Showcase Ireland 2024.
My work is now stocked in numerous galleries and gift shops nationally and is also available in my online gallery and art gift shop here.
I am a professional member of VAI –Visual Artists Ireland and the IAA – International Association of Art.
I love creating mix media paintings with colour, energy and light in an abstract/ impressionistic style. Many of my works are now colourful focal points in homes in Ireland, Europe, USA, Australia and more recently in the UAE and Canada. I look forward to continuing to develop my style in vibrant colours, splashes of light and exciting textures.
A Little About Me
I am a creative, fun loving, social person, inspired by nature, stunning Irish coastlines and sweeping landscapes. My love of birds and marine life was passed on to me by my late Dad Jim, who taught me to explore and appreciate the beauty and wonder of the natural world.
Native of Youghal, Co. Cork, I have a wonderful partner Eamon, four adult children and seven beautiful grand children. I paint and create in my home studios in Youghal and in my log cabin studios on the @wildatlanticwayclare in The Burren, Fanore, Co. Clare.
Happiest travelling, exploring and drawing inspiration from our harbours, villages, historic buildings, lighthouses and sailing around our spectacular coasts. Often seen, hanging over cliffs with binoculars and camera in hand, sketching or plein air painting on our beautiful coastlines or islands.
I hope you enjoy browsing my artwork, gifts and photo collections that were created to bring joy and colour, and you find that original painting or ideal gift that you are looking for.
Thank you for buying Irish and supporting Irish Arts.
All the Best,
Mary
